Dear Delegate
The inception of the VIBGYOR MUN in 2011 was the fulfillment of a long-cherished idea of providing a platform to students to realise their potential. The unequalled success we have achieved in the previous conferences and the plethora of intense experiences appreciated by thousands of delegates, testify to the endurance of the VIBGYORMUN.
From 26 to 29 June 2024, the VIBGYOR Group of Schools will be hosting the VIBGYOR MUN 14 in Bengaluru. We invite our ardent MUNers to participate in the 4 days of powerful and passionate debating, negotiating, and networking with your peers from many parts of India. In addition to the productive committee sessions, there are numerous new and exciting experiences lined up for you to enhance your learning as well as to engage with the other delegates.
This year the focus is on sustainable development, the UNSDG Goal 11. Many 21st Century cities are confronting pressing challenges, the most notable among these being energy consumption, carbon emissions, poor urban planning and staggering population increase. Thus, the advocacy of the youth of today is important as it will lead to attempts to promote sustainability in the future. Small actions taken now, and consolidated over time, will bear effective results.
‘If it can’t be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled, or composted, then it should be restricted, designed or removed from production.’ Sagacious advice from the folk singer and social activist, Pete Seeger. Reducing our use of, and even eliminating the need for, many non-biodegradable materials will go a long way in dealing with urban waste. Minimalism and regeneration should be our watchwords.
Young people’s voices and concentrated efforts are imperative in bringing about the needful changes. VIBGYORMUN 14 will help you to find your voice, develop your world view, and pave your path to ensuring sustainability in your lives, in our cities, and in our world.
Best regards
