Our Journey

The VIBGYOR Model United Nations (VIBGYOR MUN), launched in 2011, is proudly hosted by the VIBGYOR Group of Schools. Now in its 16th year, it continues to inspire young minds as champions of the future. The event promotes critical thinking, collaboration, diplomacy, and awareness of global issues while fostering a deeper understanding of the United Nations. With over 6700 alumni from across India and abroad, and more than 500 educators, mentors, and leaders from the education industry, VIBGYOR MUN stands as one of the country's largest and most respected school-led MUN.

The 16th edition of the VIBGYOR Model United Nations (VIBGYOR MUN) will be hosted in Pune this year. The quindecennial edition in Mumbai was a grand success, witnessing over 750 delegates showcasing exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills. Initiated by Mr. Shim Mathew, Director - Academic Operations and International Partnerships, the VIBGYOR MUN continues to thrive under the unwavering support of Mr. Rustom Kerawalla, Founder Chairman, and Ms. Kavita Kerawalla, Vice-Chairperson of the VIBGYOR Group of Schools. It is expertly guided and nurtured by Ms. Tripti Parekh, Chief Advisor, VIBGYOR MUN.

History of MUN

Model United Nations began with student simulations of the League of Nations in the early 1920s, starting with an "International Assembly" at Oxford University in 1921, followed by a similar event at Harvard in 1923. After the United Nations was created in 1945, these activities shifted to modeling the UN, eventually becoming the modern MUN conferences held around the world today. Some conferences also include historical committees, occasionally simulating League of Nations sessions.

From discussing peace and security in the early years to tackling today's urgent global challenges-like climate change, human rights, and inequality-MUN has evolved into a dynamic platform that empowers youth to think critically, speak persuasively, and lead responsibly. It continues to inspire a new generation of global citizens committed to dialogue, diplomacy, and change.

Dear Delegates

Welcome to the 16th Edition of the VIBGYOR Model United Nations, hosted by the VIBGYOR Group of Schools. Each year, this platform empowers our students to think critically, lead responsibly, and act with empathy-values at the heart of meaningful education.

This year's theme, "Reduced Inequalities" (SDG 10), calls on our young delegates to explore how fairness, inclusion, and opportunity can bridge divides and create a more balanced world. As they debate and deliberate, they will learn that true leadership lies in understanding diverse perspectives and standing up for equity and justice.

In a world where voices are often unheard, VIBGYOR MUN gives every student a platform to express, engage, and inspire change. It is here that they realize the power of dialogue and the importance of unity in building a future where equality is not an aspiration but a reality.

At VIBGYOR, we believe such experiences ignite lasting change-within individuals, communities, and the world at large.

Dear Delegates

From its inception in 2011 to this remarkable 16th edition, VIBGYOR MUN has evolved into a powerful platform where young minds challenge norms, voice change, and shape ideas for a fairer, more inclusive world. I extend my gratitude to the students, mentors, Principals, and dedicated core teams who have nurtured this legacy with their passion and perseverance.

Through debates, deliberations, and diplomacy, our delegates will explore how inequality-whether economic, social, or digital-affects the stability of nations and the dignity of individuals. Each committee session offers an opportunity to listen with empathy, reason with integrity, and act with courage. These experiences will not only sharpen your intellect but also strengthen your resolve to make justice and equity cornerstones of leadership.

Dear Delegates

Over the years, VIBGYOR MUN has become a space where young voices rise with confidence, passion, and purpose. What began as a small initiative has grown into a vibrant platform that empowers students to question, collaborate, and lead change on a global stage.

The theme for this year, "Reduced Inequalities" (SDG 10), challenges us to break barriers and build bridges-between people, communities, and nations. As Kofi Annan said, "Equality of opportunity is not a matter of charity; it is a matter of justice." Each debate, discussion, and resolution you craft is a step toward creating a world that values fairness and celebrates diversity.

I encourage you to make the most of this experience-listen deeply, think boldly, and let your ideas inspire action. Together, let's make the 16th Edition of VIBGYOR MUN a celebration of leadership, empathy, and change.
