Students engage in diplomatic discussions with their fellow delegates, addressing pressing global issues and collaborating to pass resolutions on the given topic on the agenda. This initiative encourages students to develop important skills that moulds them into leaders of tomorrow.
The VIBGYOR Model United Nations (VIBGYOR MUN) began in 2011, and today in its quindecennial year continues to be hosted by the VIBGYOR Group of Schools, that passionately fosters the belief that the youth are the champions of the future. In addition to promoting critical thinking, collaboration, and diplomacy, the VIBGYOR MUN aims to educate participants about global concerns and foster understanding of the UN. The VIBGYOR MUN provides the best forum for students to express their views, confidently and fearlessly. This acclaimed event has established itself as the largest school-led MUN in the country, with over 5000 alumni, 1000 national and international delegates, and over 100 faculty advisors, Principals, and academicians that have been part of the journey so far. The 15th edition of the VIBGYOR Model United Nations is going to be hosted in Mumbai this year. The 14th edition in Bengaluru was a roaring success with over 6000 delegates displaying their skills of negotiation and problem solving. The innovative module initiated by Mr Shim Mathew, Director, Academic Operations and International Partnerships, VIBGYOR Group of Schools, the VIBGYOR Model United Nations has the unstinted support of Mr Rustom Kerawalla, our Founder Chairman, and Ms Kavita Kerawalla, Vice-Chairperson. It has been nurtured by Ms Tripti Parekh, the VIBGYOR MUN Chief Advisor.
The first recorded instance of a Model United Nations conference was at Swarthmore College on April 5, 1947. In the early 1990s Model UN spread to Europe, East, and South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa. MUN simulations are popular exercises for student delegates interested in learning more about the United Nations.
Dear Delegate
In the 15th year of VIBGYOR MUN, I am happy to confirm that we continue “to help our students develop into progressive thinkers and lifelong bearers of skills that will prepare them for the challenges of a dynamically changing world” as the VIBGYOR Group of Schools Mission statement indicates. VIBGYOR MUN 2025, held in Mumbai, will reflect on a pressing issue that requires an urgent plan of action that needs to be put into play as soon as possible. Today more than ever, our students experience the fallout of climate change and neglect of our planet, Earth.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 – ‘Climate Action’, which has been chosen as the theme for this year, will encourage our students to ponder on the innumerable ways in which we daily contribute to marring the wholesomeness of nature around us, while debating on the policies and principles, nations adopt but fail to comply with to lessen our carbon footprint and lower Earth’s temperature.
As John F. Kennedy said: “Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.” I know this positive experience of the Quindecennial Edition of the VIBGYOR MUN will further augment their critical thinking, logical reasoning, risk taking, problem solving and communicative skills, to the hilt, to enable them to arrive at original and inventive solutions for the problems placed before them and to work towards making the Earth safe for the future.
To conclude, I would like to acknowledge and commend the untiring efforts of the VIBGYOR MUN core team that have helped to bring to fruition the conference for the last fifteen years progressively enlarging its scope and participation to make it one of the most popular and prestigious student conferences in the country today.
Undoubtedly, VIBGYOR MUN, 2025 will surpass all expectations in the realm of independent as well as co-operative learning for our delegates!
Best wishesMr Rustom Kerawalla

Dear Delegate
Welcome to the Quindecennial Edition of the VIBGYOR MUN held at The Westin in Mumbai from the 25-28 June 2025 hosted by the VIBGYOR Group of Schools. “The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence,” said Maria Montessori and I think this event is just such a means to bring to reality, these words. This year the theme is ‘Climate Action’ - Sustainable Development Goal 13 of the United Nations.
The children in our schools are already aware of the climate situation through participation in the Climate Academy programme that is a part of our Post School Activities. Some of our children even attended COP 29 at Baku to experience first-hand the buzz around international efforts to promote positive, solutions –driven approaches to combat climate change, highlight transformational climate action, and improve public understanding of the issue. This experience has enthused them to further carry forward this message and fix the problems the previous generations have created. We, at VIBGYOR, are happy to provide the opportunity for them to spread this urgent and timely warning to their peers and through them to their families and communities.
Climate change is now affecting every country on every continent as it is disrupting economies and endangering lives, costing people, communities and nations dearly. The greenhouse gas emissions from human activities continue to raise temperatures around the globe. Without action, the world’s average surface temperature is projected to surpass 3 degrees Celsius this century— affecting the poorest and most vulnerable people.
Affordable, scalable solutions are now available to enable countries to have cleaner and more resilient economies. But climate change is a global challenge that does not respect national borders. Emissions anywhere affect people everywhere. It is an issue that requires solutions that need to be coordinated at the international level, and it requires international cooperation to help developing countries move toward a low-carbon economy.
This is the realisation we hope all our students achieve as they debate, deliberate, discuss and resolve the problems placed before them. The call to action for every individual must be heartfelt and propel us to do all we can to increase sustainability and the stability of our home, Earth.
Warm wishes
Ms Kavita Kerawalla

Dear Delegate
Ralph Waldo Emerson said: Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
I wish to take a moment to reflect on the trail blazing journey of VIBGYOR MUN from 2011 to this milestone we celebrate, its quindecennial year. I wish to thank all those who over the years have contributed - students, teachers, Principals and the core teams who have worked tirelessly leading to the snowball success we have achieved here. We, at the VIBGYOR Group of Schools, are ecstatic that our efforts to provide students with opportunities to develop real world skills, inclusive attitudes and profound experiences have come a long way.
The decision to focus on Sustainable Development Goal 13 - Climate Action is a culmination of our students’ learning experiences over the last few years. We now invite our dedicated MUNers to gather together these learnings and share them with their peers as representatives of different countries at the various sessions that will be held at the 4-day VIBGYOR MUN, 2025.
Climate change impacts everyone, in every country, and in some way. Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and intense and are exacerbated by climate change. Debating passionately at the iconic MUN Colosseum or negotiating and networking at the Midnight Crisis Simulation to solve urgent environmental problems our world is facing today will up your skills and refine your learning in ways unimaginable. Following climate icons like Greta Thunberg and Licypriya Kangujam, we need to do our bit for the future.
Greta Thunberg’s words affirm the fact that you students are the real champions of change. She said, “I’m telling you there is hope. I have seen it, but it does not come from the governments or corporations. It comes from the people.” Your voices and convictions will go a long way in changing mind-sets and usher in adaptations that will transform our lives positively.
Warm regards
Mr Shim Mathew

Dear Delegate
VIBGYOR MUN has grown into one of the most distinguished and highly regarded Model United Nations conferences in the country. From its humble beginnings as a school-level event to its current stature as a Pan-India conference, it has been a privilege to witness its remarkable evolution. Over the past 15 years, I have seen a transformative journey of the delegates and the debates, with every year setting new benchmarks. It is truly inspiring to see our motivated young participants sharpening their skills in international relations, critical thinking, diplomacy, public speaking, and collaboration.
As Thomas Fuller aptly said, "We never know the worth of water till the well is dry." These words resonate profoundly with the urgency of the issues we face today. In the context of Sustainable Development Goal 13 – Climate Action, they remind us of our responsibility to protect our planet. Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it is a reality that demands immediate and decisive action.
As global citizens, we must work together to combat the challenges posed by climate change, advocating for sustainability in every aspect of our lives. VIBGYOR MUN serves as a platform for young leaders like you to deliberate, negotiate, and propose innovative solutions to these pressing global concerns.
This year’s conference will be held in Mumbai from 25 to 28 June 2025. It is our hope that your experiences here extend beyond the committee rooms and inspire you to champion the cause of sustainability in your communities and beyond.
Your conscientious participation will undoubtedly add value to VIBGYOR MUN 15 as we collectively strive towards a greener, more sustainable future.
Warm regards
