Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilisation. The effects are clearly visible and will be catastrophic unless we act now. Through education, innovation and adherence to our climate commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet. In our increasingly globalised world, the Model United Nations shapes knowledgeable aspiring global citizens who understand both national choices and their local and global implications.

Let us look at some of the comments made by international climate warriors at different Climate Action meetings:
"We no longer have the luxury of time."
"We need more ambition, more solidarity and more urgency."
"We have no time to lose if we are to avert a climate catastrophe."
"Climate finance is not charity, it’s an investment. Climate action is not optional, it’s an imperative.”
"The green economy is the economy of the future and we need to make way for it right now."
Thus, we can see that the watch words here are:
IMPERATIVE - URGENT - CHANGE.

And this is what Antonio Guterres, the Secretary- General of the UN said at the Youth4Climate virtual event: “Major and rapid change is exactly what we need in the fight against climate disruption. And no group is more effective in pushing leaders to change course than you.”

Encouraged by his words, we chose the theme of the Quindecennial Edition of VIBGYOR MUN - SDG 13– Climate Action - a cause we all know is top priority to prevent damage to our generation and the next.
